Quilt & Stitch Along - Getting Started

I am getting myself prepared to participate in the Clover & Violet Quilt & Stitch Along. I am 3 blocks behind because I just discovered it, but hoping to get caught up soon. Made it to Joann's today to pick out the fabric for my blocks and to stock up on some embroidery threads.

Because it is a garden themed quilt, I decided to go with all yellow and green fabrics. A white center block will showcase the embroidery. I have only dabbled in embroidery and it was quite some time ago, so we will see how it goes. I am looking forward to getting into this. It will be nice to have a hobby that travels. My sewing machine and tools don't quite fit into a small bag so I can't quilt while on vacation! I am envious of my crocheting friends who can travel with their crafts.

Fortunately the quilt along group is only on Block 3 and Block 4 hasn't been announced yet. So I hope to have the first block completed by next week so I don't get too far behind!

Free Motion Firsts

Everyone has to start somewhere, right? About a month ago, I took a free motion quilt class to prepare myself for a quilt I am working on I knew had to be free motion quilted. It is a big custom project and I knew there was no other way to do it.

I have been practicing a lot and it has paid off. The quilt is looking amazing! This is actually this first completed quilt I have free motioned and I was super nervous to start it for fear of messing it up. A client paid big money for this and I was terrified of ruining this gorgeous quilt.

Well I am glad I jumped in head first on this free motion thing, because I am overjoyed at the results.

Welcome

Welcome to the beginning of the Lovey Bug Designs blog! As I begin to promote my shop and prepare to participate in my first craft fair this year, I felt it was time to start a blog to keep my fans updated with the latest creations.

I am currently wrapping up a rather large custom quilt right now. It has been six weeks in the making, but it is turning out very well. I am going to refrain from posting pictures, so I don't spoil the outcome for my client! Once this quilt is complete, I will be pumping out new items a little more regularly.

I am also preparing myself to participate in the Clover & Violet: Quilt & Stitch Along. I just discovered this awesome project and am anxious to catch up.

I invite you to please check out my Etsy Shop and don't forget to "like" my Facebook page!
